About the members
The band DEMOLUTION has its roots in 70’s and 80’s cover rock. The local Charlotte, NC band Vision was formed by Rick Wagoner and Chip Rogers in the year 1976 and played gigs until late 1984. Vision covered bands like Black Sabbath, Bad Company, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Outlaws, the Stones, Boston, Kansas, Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, April Wine, Doobie Brothers, Grand Funk and too many more to name here. One of the most popular cover bands at the time, they were the house band at both Elbow’s and the Bank Lounge, plus did regular gigs at the legendary Milestone Club and Cheap Charlie’s. In fact, the Vision gig at the Milestone Club was the first time Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were ever called to the Milestone due to excessive loudness. Vision specialized in wild parties, frat gigs, and some concert opening gigs.
They had serious original music as well, having gotten themselves invited as a feature on 95WROQ FM Radio’s Q-Tracks album (published in 1979) featuring other local bands like Sugarcreek, George Hatcher, Jesse Bolt, Spongetones, Vandals and more, many of whom got signed to serious record deals off of that publication. Vision recorded three demos on their own, but their drummer stood them up for their final recording gig at the famous Reflections Studio on the night they were to finalize their Q-Tracks submission, disqualifying them at the last minute from the album.
The band broke up in 1985 and each member pursued life into different directions. Rick went into auto racing, and then finally got around to finishing college and opening his own business in Charlotte: CompuDoctor, Inc. Now a successful businessman, Rick decided in 1998 to get back into music. After taking refresher lessons and overcoming the beginnings of arthritis in his hands, Rick started exploring other forms of music from Blues, Smooth Jazz, Classical, Modern Jazz, and Alternative which finally led him back to his roots in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. In 2005 Rick started the concept that was to become DEMOLUTION. Re-connecting with his keyboard player and vocalist Chip Rogers, they are now working on material for a re-release of DEMOLUTION: DEMOLUTION and are already working ahead on new material for a second CD.
Chip took another path, earning his PhD in English and teaching at universities all around the country. Chip also co-starred with Michael Riley at his popular gigs at Kristopher’s in Matthews, NC when he was in town. He has now settled down in Macon GA, and is co-authoring tunes with Rick for the upcoming CDs. Chip performed in many stage productions while at various universities, contributing to song writing, adding piano and keyboards to the live performances, and singing.
